Band Aid Movie Review
SIFF Capsule Review: Band Aid is about that awful couple you know who fight endlessly and who make you wonder why the fuck they are still together, and how did they end up together in the first place? The quasi-comedy has writer/director/star Zoe Lister-Jones and on-screen husband (Adam Pally) forming a band to work (with Fred Armisen) out their marriage issues through music.
The film is your typical indie dramedy--cute, filled with young married people angst, and some biting dialogue that sounds smarter than it actually is. The two stars are good but not mindblowing, and the movie could be described in the same vein: it’s marginally fun to watch, but instantly forgettable.
Band Aid’s biggest problem: neither of the characters are very likable, and when the film ends, you’re not at all convinced they hashed out any of their issues and you’re still left wondering why the fuck are they still together?
