Capsule Review: Having made only $15 million domestically against a $100 million budget, Mortal Engines was one of the bigger flops of 2018, and understandably so: set in a dystopian future where cities roll around on wheels and gobble up smaller moving communities (it’s never explained why these cities roll around) and featuring a largely unrecognizable cast, the Peter Jackson-produced action film just never stood much of a chance.
