Frank Bannister never expected anyone to take his business seriously, or believe him. He runs a "spirit clearance" business, using his two best friends, which just happen to be ghosts, as his associates. They pretend to be a poltergeist, he "rids" the house they are haunting of them, and gets paid. It doesn't matter if everyone thinks he's a looney bin or a crook.

Way back in 1996, no one knew who Peter Jackson was. In fact, he had never directed a film outside of New Zealand before. Jackson was just some scraggly-haired chubby guy who did B-grade horror movies, and, with "The Frighteners," was able to make a B-grade horror movie with a larger budget. Full movie review »
