Stuber Movie Review
Capsule Review: Pairing comedian Kumail Nanjiani with muscleman Dave Bautista isn’t the worst idea in the world, but pairing them in the generic buddy cop movie Stuber maybe is. Bland and largely humorless—though not entirely devoid of laughs—Stuber has Nanjiani doing what he apparently does best (playing himself), while Bautista struggles with stereotypical material for a big man such as himself.
What ensues is a forgettable film that feels ripped from another era. Stuber relies too heavily on the charm of its two leads, opting not to even attempt to be original or give its stars much to work with. The movie isn’t entirely devoid of entertainment value—it’s fast-paced and lands a few funny bits—but there’s no real reason to watch this movie.
