Having grown up together in Cleveland, two best friends, Bobby, a trendy heterosexual, and Jonathan, a gay man who wants a baby, reunite and decide to move in together in New York's East Village in the 1980's. Complications arise, however, when Bobby falls in love with Jonathan's friend Clare, which builds tension between the two men because Jonathan was planning on having a baby with her.
