Event Horizon Movie Synopsis & Plot

The year is 2047 and a distress signal has just been sent from the Event Horizon, a prototype ship capable of faster than light travel. It disappeared seven years ago.

Dr. William Weir joins up with the crew of the Lewis and Clark, led by Captain Miller, to go to the Event Horizon on a rescue mission. The creator of the ship, he hopes to salvage the Event Horizon, save the crew, and determine why it disappeared. The truth will not be pleasant.

Upon arriving at the eerie ship, they find that the crew has been massacred by an unknown force. They are about to meet that force. The mysterious core of the ship, which, in essence, folds the universe so it can travel to any point instantaneously, puts one of the crew members, Justin, in a wide-awake coma. Meanwhile, the other crew members begin to have premonitions of past secrets. Miller of the man he was forced to leave behind, Weir of his deceased wife, Peters of her son.

As the ship continues to toy with them, people begin to die. Gruesomely. Chasing her son, Peters falls down a chute and her back is broken. Justin jettisons himself into space, unaware of his actions. And Weir rips his eyes out.

The Event Horizon has traveled beyond the universe to another dimension, a place made of chaos. And it has brought Hell back with it. As Miller and his remaining crew is about to find out, the ship is not going to let them go. It's not going to let them live. It's going to return to it's previous home.

MOVIE REVIEW

To put it in layman's terms, Event Horizon is the grossest, freakiest movie I've ever seen. As a matter of fact, I rather liked it. Event Horizon was much like Sphere, in essence, but at the same time different, far, far different. And far superior. Though the gore was utterly disgusting and rather unpleasant to watch, Event Horizon featured frightening horror that far exceeds Alien. It's dark setting is truly spooky, surrounded by strange architecture and shown with great cinematography. Most of the space graphics looked excellent, though some looked rather cheesy, but graphics were only a scratch on the surface of this movie. Event Horizon is like Alien in content and Sphere in story, but it is much gorier and much scarier.
